Planning a wedding is a lengthy and tedious process. It can take anywhere from a few months to more than a year, depending on how extravagant the celebration is going to be. Most engaged couples would have an organized timetable they intend to follow as they prepare for the wedding.
Each major component of the wedding planning process is usually given its own time frame. For instance, deciding on a venue and having it reserved would usually be among the first tasks to accomplish, and would have to be done, say, 12 months from the wedding date. Other major tasks such as choosing the bridal gown, forming the guest list, booking the venue for the wedding reception, hiring a caterer, and booking a band or DJ for entertainment will have their own deadlines.
These highly organized schedules supposedly ensure the smooth sailing of the entire planning process. However, these couples are likely to find out that even if they do keep to their schedule, the last few weeks leading up to the wedding day are always the ones that are the most hectic, tiring, and even stressful.
Many couples start feeling the pressure approximately two weeks prior to the wedding day, during which they would have to deal with the guest list. Of course, by this time, the guest list has long been formed and the invitations have all been mailed out. Some of the guests may have already sent their RSVPs. Two weeks before the wedding, the couple should call their invited guests for confirmation and finalize the number of people attending the wedding. This final number is needed by the caterer, as well as the people who will be arranging the seating in the wedding venue.
